Jelly Plus Quilt

IMG_1738
As you all know my favorite pre-cut is the jelly roll (or 2.5inch strips).
It's affordable and you get a complete collection in it. A lot of people don't know what to do with jelly rolls though so I thought for November I would dedicate the month to these cute little guys. I have plenty of sources on patterns for them I'll share the next few weeks.

I had Background Modern Ink and Canyon Jelly Rolls I wanted a quilt out of so I decided to make a plus quilt.
I didn't really find anything on Google for measurements and some people asked me on Instagram so I figured I'd do a somewhat tutorial below. :)

IMG_1938

You will need ONE Jelly Roll for the background of the blocks and only 15 jelly roll strips for the pluses. This is great if you have left over strips from another project or even scraps.
Here are the measurements for 1 block. You will use ONE background strip for each block.

In the end you will have 40 plus blocks

I'm assuming anyone reading this knows how to sew the pieces together to make this block. If not let me know in the comments and I can add a couple more photos in here.

IMG_1936
If you want yours exactly like this I did 6 rows of 6 leaving 4 plus blocks left over which I used for corner pieces with a border to make it BIG!

Now for some close up photos and my horrible quilting job.

I did use some other Canyon strips for a scrappy binding.
This one is my favorite:

If you make one of these and are on Instagram please hashtag it #jellyplusquilt so I can see. I'm curious to do one with a more colorful background and maybe solid pluses?
Also I never really have done a tutorial before so if you are new to quilting and this makes absolutely no sense let me know.

Wonderland Quilt

IMG_1856

Here she is!!!
My Wonderland quilt is currently going through the laundry getting all nice and crinkly. I love how it came out and I have a little extra fabric leftover to make a baby quilt for someone expecting.

I used Katarina's Imprint fabric in pink for the binding and I think it goes perfectly with the prints I used in the quilt.

I am not going to elaborate more on it since I already gushed about Wonderland here and here
I just happened to be a day over my designated stop... typical me... :)
Thanks for visiting.

Wonderland Blog Tour

Hello! I'm so excited to be part of the Wonderland Blog Tour with such a great group of inspiring people.

If you are new to my blog I did a post about Wonderland before this with some photos of my favorite prints from the collection. You can see it here if you are curious about the individual prints.

This is such a beautiful collection. I've been a fan of Katarina's since her Spoonflower days and this might my my favorite collection of them all (those feathers!!).

When Art Gallery needed my fabric requirements I had no idea what I was going to sew but assumed it would be a quilt. I just took a guess and as I waited for the postman to deliver the fabric I designed my quilt on Pattern Jam.

I tried, I really tried to make a simple quick quilt but I couldn't. This is what I wanted and I don't like to settle.
I had to wait until it was available in stores to get more of the mint and gray and by the time I received it I had 3 days to sew a whole quilt. Needless to say it's not done yet. All I have are progress shots so I hope you don't mind. :)

I just love the watercolor feel and the cute designs are perfect for fussy cutting.

The little stars take too long so I did do some regular blocks instead for most of those places. All that's left is sewing the rows together.

Here is what it will look like:

I'm cannot wait to get it finished and washed. :)

If you aren't a big quilting person the canvas is just as beautiful. The canvas feathers jumped in my cart with the teal and gray I bought and I made a little bag with it. Metallic fabric is a weak spot for me.

Pattern Jam

I am addicted to Pattern Jam!

Patternjamlogo2x

I wanted to share with anyone that interested in designing their own quilt because I would have loved this when I first started quilting. It's amazing what you can do with just half square triangles by playing with the layout and fabric!

My scrappy bear paw is one of my next projects.
I uploaded the digital images of the fabric I plan to use and it generates a PDF file that you can download with how much fabric you need of each print. :)

Here's a few of my other designs.

This one is for the upcoming line Radiant Girl.
I am still working on the flying geese directions (you can go and edit a design at any time).

Seriously fun! I've probably designed a quilt every other night in just an hour or so time before bed.

Go sign up and check it out! If you design and save a quilt you can get a free month of the premium membership. I am not sure if there is a time limit for that promo so I'd do it soon.

I think this will help me get through my fabric stash! As much as I love sewing patterns I think it's more fun creating my own from scratch and watching it come to life. :)
